Psychological Evaluations

What is a psychological evaluation?

These evaluations assess general cognitive processes (i.e., intelligence), behavioral functioning, and emotional functioning. Additional assessment of specific domains (e.g., attention, executive functioning) may also be included.

How can an evaluation help?

  • Provide diagnostic clarification
  • Outline potential treatment options and provide referrals
  • Assist with accessing therapies and school help
  • Establish baseline functioning (e.g., before interventions, such as medication)
  • Monitor functioning over time to assess for improvements and declines

Who might an evaluation benefit?

Individuals with suspected psychiatric and/or neurodevelopmental conditions, such as:

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Learning Disorders (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia)
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Anxiety and/or Depression
  • Other behavioral and/or emotional concerns
